Naomi McGrath
Naomi McGrath is a dedicated and compassionate counsellor with extensive experience supporting couples, individuals, and families. Naomi holds a Bachelor degree in Arts/Creative Arts and a Graduate Diploma in Counselling. Naomi is a registered member of the Australian Counselling Association.
She has received extensive training in Emotionally Focused Therapy with Dr Clare Rosoman, through the Brisbane Centre for EFT, with Dr Michelle Webster from the Annandale Institute, and from Dr Rowan Burckhardt. She is also a certified Circle of Security Parenting facilitator.
Naomi took an interest in relationship counselling after recognising, through both her work and personal life, how profoundly our closest connections shape our sense of self and overall wellbeing.
Prior to joining the Sydney Couples Counselling Centre, Naomi had over four years of counselling experience in private practice, where she worked with couples, parents and individuals helping people build on their strengths, connect with their values and move towards a more content filled and purpose driven life.
Before becoming a counsellor, Naomi worked for two decades as an educator, group facilitator, and writer. This experience has helped her develop a creative and flexible style in her work with clients.
Guided by curiosity and a spirit of adventure, Naomi has lived in various communities across Australia, as well as in Fiji and India. These experiences have enabled her to better understand people of diverse cultures, backgrounds, and beliefs. It has also enriched her ability to see the uniqueness and common humanity of every person.
Naomi prides herself in ensuring that all her clients have a nonjudgmental place where they can explore their difficulties and hopes, and facilitate the changes they would like to make. She understands that life can feel messy and painful at times, and she offers a down-to-earth, gentle approach that helps clients feel safe, heard, and supported as they explore the challenges they face.
Specialising in emotion-focused and attachment-based therapy, Naomi helps couples and individuals strengthen their connections with others and with themselves. Her client-led, trauma-informed approach focuses on supporting people to live in alignment with their values. Known for creating a safe space for meaningful change, Naomi is deeply committed to helping couples navigate challenges, build emotional closeness, and develop healthier ways of relating.
